I had the pleasure of working with Lynn on both a grant funded project and as a consultant to our Heritage Team. She led on the development of a new audio trail at Ruthin Gaol Museum, devised an Interpretation Strategy, completed a staff review and supported on collections management. She advised on best practice and mentored staff through finding practical solutions. Lynn has proven to be thoughtful, insightful, creative, hardworking and knowledgeable - she also managed to engage our teams in her work and they were enthused by her presence.

What I found impressive with Lynn's work was her detail in collating and researching information about the history and backstory of our museum but also about our staff, visitors and demographic of the area. Lynn's knowledge and experience really helped staff to look at the site in a different way. From Lynn's Strategy report we are using it to update our content and visually enhance our visitor experience.

Lynn is obviously someone who is very passionate about what she does and she does it very well. She will engage you and your staff in the process to move forward and provide the best visitor experience. I found Lynn very easy to work with and she was a great sounding board for us.

Lynn's work in helping this little independent and largely volunteer run museum has been a huge benefit to us as we work towards receiving accreditation. She has produced a tranche of policies and procedures for us and in doing so, asked all the right questions and gently but firmly steered us towards answering them.

Her turn around on every piece of work was quick and she was a pleasure to work with. As an ex-museum professional, I have no hesitation in commending her and her work highly.

We had a fantastic afternoon with Lynn! Our session about the workhouse was well planned and pitched perfectly so all the children, whatever their ability, could participate fully. The fact that our lesson was tailor-made meant that it was much more relevant for the children. Lynn had searched through documents to find information about a workhouse that used to be opposite the school. This was a real ‘wow’ moment in the classroom. Having copies of the original census, workhouse information brought the topic to life and the children were engaged throughout the activities.

Lynn’s subject knowledge and passion for the subject was clear and this rubbed off on the children. Her approachable manner encouraged the children to ask questions and she reinforced the correct historical vocabulary throughout. It was fantastic to have an expert in the classroom!

Being mentored by Lynn has been a valuable and enriching experience. She helped me prioritise my areas for development and give practical guidance towards achieving my goals. Lynn provided an open and supportive space for discussion. Her regular communication and sharing of useful resources between our mentoring sessions made me feel valued. Lynn has extensive experience in the heritage sector and I highly recommend her as a mentor.
